Profile

Patrick Owen, FdA, BA (Hons), ACIPR (He/Him)

Hiring a freelancer is like to selecting the ideal ingredient for your recipe – a process of careful consideration to ensure it blends seamlessly with your project's unique flavour.

I'm Patrick, I'm the Press and PR Officer at Plymouth Marjon University, the Chair of a Local Governing Body for a Multi Academy Trust, and the Chief Executive of the Plymouth Governor Network. I'm also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

I've been described as exceptional, formidable, and a force of nature (in a good way!). I love Oxford commas, although they aren't for everyone, and I'm passionate about effective communication and equality, diversity, and inclusion in communications and PR. I know a lot about education from early years to higher education, stakeholder engagement, and public relations, and I'm learning more and more every day.

I like to use innovative working practices - for example, I'm currently researching how we can use Artificial Intelligence in PR for good.

If I sound like the right man for the job, don't waste time and contact me!

History

I am the the Press and Public Relations Officer at Plymouth Marjon University, and the Chair of the Local Advisory Board for Discovery Multi Academy Trust in Plymouth.

As a child, I lived in Farnborough in Greater London and attended the local Farnborough Primary School before progressing to Darrick Wood School. Following the completion of my GCSEs, I attended London South East Colleges to complete my A-Levels in Media, Film, and Sociology. I subsequently returned to the college group to complete a supporting teaching and learning qualification in 2014.

In August 2016, I moved with his family to Plymouth and joined Discovery Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and later supported the setup and development of The Edison Centre and Plymouth Primary Nurture

Whilst working at the Trust, I studied an FdA Learning and Teaching, and a BA (Hons) in Childhood Practice at Plymouth Marjon University. Alongside my studies, I worked as a Change Maker, supporting the University in making strides towards developing and improving its services and support for student and staff mental health and wellbeing, specifically focusing on those who are care givers.

In 2022, I left Discovery MAT to join Plymouth Marjon University as the Press and Public Relations Officer and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

I am the current Chief Executive of the Plymouth Governor Network.
